The community celebrated the opening of the Grindle Point Light Station on Saturday, July 1, 2023, and enjoyed a tour of the new exhibits in the Sailors' Museum. During the celebration, Ken Smith, the committee chair, welcomed everyone and introduced Rachel Rolerson Smith, commitee member, who spoke about Dave Petzel, the former chair of the Grindle Point Light Station committee. Dave sadly passed away a few months before the opening. He meant a great deal to all of us and leading by example had a positive impact on our island community.

For the summer 2023 season, July 1st through Labor Day, the two rooms on the first floor with museum exhibits and the gift shop are open.
The second floor and tower are closed. As repairs and improvements are made more of the museum will be open to the public.
